Every A size shares the same proportion, so one portrait design prints correctly at all of them. Export vector — PDF or SVG — and resolution stops being a question.

Five rules that matter more than any number in the tables

Choose the shape before you design, never after
Cropping a finished sheet moves everything out of balance and usually cuts a label in half. Composing for the shape costs nothing if you decide first.

Ratios outlive pixel dimensions
Platforms change their recommended pixel sizes every couple of years; 4:5 has been portrait the whole time. Design to the ratio and export large.

Export at twice the size you need
Screens are dense and platforms recompress. A 2160px-wide export posted at 1080 looks noticeably sharper than a 1080 one.

For anything printed, use vector
PDF or SVG have no resolution to run out of. A PNG at A1 shows its pixels from a metre away.

Leave a safe margin
About 5% on screen, 10 mm in print. Interfaces overlay their own furniture, and trimming is never exact.
Or skip the table and pick a shape
Portrait, square, story, wide or a long page — chosen before anything is drawn, so the sheet is composed for that shape rather than cropped into it. Re-generating the same content in a second shape takes about a minute.
Size questions
What is the best size for an infographic?
There is no single best size — there is a best size for where it is going. Portrait 4:5 for a feed, 16:9 for a slide, 2:3 or taller for Pinterest, A3 for a wall. Pick the destination first and the size follows.
What resolution should an infographic be?
For screens, export at roughly twice the display width so it stays sharp on dense displays. For print, use a vector format instead of thinking in pixels at all.
Can one infographic work on every platform?
Square comes closest, and it is the right compromise when a piece is going to several places. Anything more specific is better re-generated per platform — which takes about a minute.
How tall can an infographic be?
On a web page or Pinterest, very tall works, provided the sheet is divided into sections a reader can scan. In a feed, tall gets cropped in the preview, so the top must stand alone.
Do these dimensions change?
Pixel recommendations shift as platforms update. The aspect ratios have been stable for years, which is why this page leads with them — and it is worth checking the platform’s own guidance before a large campaign.
